Peyton Manning is mulling a career in the broadcast booth, so he seeked out legendary analyst John Madden for some wisdom.

According to a report by the Big Lead’s Jason McIntyre, Madden suggested to Manning in a recent conversation to get a piece of ownership or go the John Elway route.

CBS Sports reportedly has an offer on the table for Manning to join play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz. Madden, the former Oakland Raiders coach who led the franchise to a win in Super Bowl XI, spent 29 years as an announcer, working for FOX, ESPN, NBC and CBS.

Meanwhile, Elway led the Denver Broncos to two Super Bowls in five years as Executive VP of Football Operations with Manning as his quarterback. Manning has been repeatedly linked to a possible ownership stake with the Tennessee Titans.

The Big Lead previously reported that Manning only wants to do games and not be in the studio.

We’ll see what Manning ultimately decides to do.
