Three-star defensive end Chidi Okonya is headed to Knoxville, Tenn., as a member of the 2016 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-7, 230-pound Okonya committed to the Vols late Friday at Riverside (Ga.) High School. He picked UT ahead of Duke, Clemson and Stanford.

“Tennessee has an excellent business school, tremendous academic resources, world-class athletic facilities and a very passionate fan base,” Okonya said in a statement, according to The Tennessean.

“Most importantly, I have developed a really sound relationship with the coaching staff. Tennessee is the school where I felt most comfortable calling my next home.”

A bit of a project, Okonya only has played football for four years. Clearly he needs to add some weight to his frame if he intends to play the position in the SEC as well, but his high school coaches reportedly love his aggressiveness.

Okonya becomes the 10th member of the 2016 Tennessee class, which ranked seventh in the country as of Saturday morning, according to 247Sports. If he signs with UT, Okonya would also represent the sixth defensive end of the Butch Jones era.
