If this latest report is accurate, Tennessee’s new offensive coordinator Larry Scott has his fingerprints all over the decision to hire the team’s new receivers coach.

According to Football Scoop, a ‘strong candidate’ to become the next receivers coach on Rocky Top is current FIU receivers coach Kevin Beard. Last season, Beard was an offensive assistant at Georgia.

What connection does Beard have to Scott? The two were both on Miami’s staff in 2014 and 2015. Beard served as Miami’s receivers coach and passing game coordinator his final season with the team. Before landing the job at the University of Miami, Beard was a high school coach in the South Florida area – where Scott and Tennessee have begun to mine for talent in recent seasons.

Beard is a 2003 graduate of Miami, he was a team captain in 2003 and was a member of the school’s 2001 national championship team.
