Using ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) as a guide, Tennessee has a 10.9 percent chance to beat Georgia on Saturday.

CAN A.J. JOHNSON STOP TODD GURLEY?

The Tennessee Volunteers look to snap a four-year losing streak Saturday in their annual SEC East matchup at No. 12 Georgia. The Vols are a 17-point underdog and will face one of the nation’s best rushing attacks.

Todd Gurley leads the Bulldogs with 402 yards and four touchdowns on 41 attempts. Gurley is averaging 9.8  yards and 134 yards per carry entering Saturday’s game.

A.J. Johnson leads Tennessee with 29 tackles, the most through three games for his career. He is averaging 9.7 tackles per game and is coming off back-to-back 100-plus tackle seasons.

Johnson will be a key factor in stopping the elusive Gurley. Georgia will run the football until they can be stopped. If the Bulldogs jump out to an early lead, the running will continue and will wear down an inexperienced Tennessee defense.

For Tennessee to pull off an upset, Johnson must contain the Heisman hopeful and force quarterback Hutson Mason to take over the game. Mason has succeeded as a game manager thus far, but is 0-1 in games where Georgia has trailed in the fourth quarter.

It may seem like a long shot, but Tennessee is capable of pulling off an upset in Athens this weekend. The Vols have plenty of talent at skill positions to score points, if the running game is contained.
