Former Vanderbilt and current Philadelphia Eagles receiver Jordan Matthews will miss his first two preseason games due to a knee injury.

Matthews was forced out of the Eagles’ practice early last Friday and despite coach Doug Pederson claiming he was “just going to be sore” for a couple of days, it seems like the timetable will be longer.

Pederson told Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer the third-year receiver will be out for the next few weeks, but Philadelphia hopes he’ll be active for its third preseason game against Indianapolis on Aug. 27.

Matthews took a low hit by rookie defensive back Jalen Mills last week. The former Commodore recorded 997 yards and eight touchdowns on 85 receptions in 2015.
