Vanderbilt beats out multiple other SEC programs for QB commit in class of 2026
Vanderbilt has its quarterback for the class of 2026.
The Commodores earned a commitment from Michael Mitchell Jr. on Saturday. Mitchell is a California native who is on the cusp of 4-star status.

Mitchell is a big-time pickup for the Commodores. He’s the No. 426 overall player and the No. 32 quarterback in the country for the class of 2026, per 247Sports Composite rankings. Although he’s currently a 3-star prospect, it’s possible Mitchell will be upgraded to 4-star status before the end of his recruiting cycle.
Mitchell chose Vanderbilt over multiple other SEC offers, including Ole Miss and Arkansas. Arizona State, Cal and Washington State are some of the other programs who have offered him a scholarship in recent months.
Mitchell is Vanderbilt’s first commitment in the class of 2026. It’s still very early in that recruiting cycle, but the Commodores appear to be off to a great start with getting Mitchell into the fold.
Here are some highlights from Mitchell’s junior season:
Ole Miss is a surprise, the other not so much.
“Although he’s currently a 3-star prospect, it’s possible Mitchell will be upgraded to 4-star status before the end of his recruiting cycle.“
Yes indeed Spencer with an S…electric reporting there, son. Me too. I might be upgraded to a 4* commentator before the end of…uh, the world or something…
