Craig Kuligowski did a great job during his 23-year tenure as Missouri defensive line coach.

He helped groom future NFL players such as Aldon Smith, Sheldon Richardson, Ziggy Hood, C.J. Mosely, Shane Ray and others.

Mizzou is known for its dominant front sevens.

But now Kuligowski left to join Mark Richt in Miami after Barry Odom succeeded Gary Pinkel as Mizzou’s head coach.

Should Tigers fans be worried? Absolutely not.

Odom, a former Tigers linebacker, has enjoyed success as a coordinator at Memphis and Mizzou.

Coaches are great. But they need players. And the Mizzou defensive line is stacked.

Mizzou’s front is anchored by DE Charles Harris, who had a breakout season in 2015, finishing  the season with 54 tackles and seven sacks. He also was a dominant force against the run.

The Tigers have other standouts up front.

Walter Brady made seven sacks at the other end as a freshman. The tackles include Harold Brantley, who had five sacks in 2014 then missed the 2015 season after suffering multiple injuries in a car accident, and Terry Beckner Jr., a five-star recruit who emerged as a playmaker as a freshman.

Tackles Josh Augusta and Terry Hatley are other experienced playmakers in the rotation.

Though Kentrell Brothers, the nation’s leader tackler, is gone, Donavin Newsom and Michael Scherer return at linebacker.

Remember, this was a unit that helped the Mizzou defense rank 6th in the country. New defensive line coach Chris Wilson has the pieces in place.

Wilson has coached at several big-time programs, including his last stop at Southern Cal. He’s also coached at Georgia, Colorado, Mississippi State and Oklahoma.

Mizzou’s defensive front appears to be in good shape.
