Arkansas added a walk-onย to its roster on Monday, but this one comes from the minor league baseball ranks.

Former Jacksonville High School wide receiver Dโ€™Vone McClure committed toย the Razorbacks after spending four years in the Cleveland Indians’ farm system, according to The Arkansas Democrat Gazette’s Richard Davenport.ย McClure visited the school earlier this month.

McClure was originally going to show off his skills on the diamond in Fayetteville after committing to Arkansas baseball, but he was drafted right out of high school in the fourth round of the 2012 MLB Draft.

It’s a good deal for McClure, who will have his college education paid for by the Indians. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound receiver out of Jacksonville High School had a clauseย in his contract that arranged for that if his professional baseball career didn’t work out, which is commonplace among high school athletes that sign baseball contracts.

McClure, who was also recruited by Auburn,ย hadย 58 receptionsย for 944 yards and 9 TDs inย his junior season at Jacksonville. He’ll be considered a true freshman at Arkansas.
