Former Auburn basketball star Charles Barkley hadn’t said much following Tuesday’s election, but he broke that silence during Inside the NBA on TNT on Thursday night.

While speaking about Donald Trump’s victory, Barkley said he hopes Americans will give the president-elect a chance to succeed in the nation’s highest office:

“I was disappointed because my candidate didn’t win, number one. But like I said, it’s over now. He’s going to be the president of the United States. We’ve got to respect the office, and we have to give him a chance. That’s the bottom line.”

Barkley complimented President Obama on two successful terms and said he’d now support Trump as he prepares to take over the Oval Office.
