Former University of South Carolina standout running back Mike Davis will be looking for a new home, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport.

The 49ers have released Davis, who is entering his third season with the team.

However, it looks like Davis will get another shot with an NFL team because there was trade interest prior to the draft. Davis has low miles in the NFL, and another team could find value in his ability and fresh body and legs.

San Francisco drafted just one running back in 2017 in Utah’s Joe Williams.

Exiting South Carolina, the 49ers drafted Davis in the fourth round in 2015, and he’s played in 14 games, rushing for 108 yards on 54 carries and one touchdown.

Prior to the NFL, Davis was a standout for the Gamecocks. He rushed for 1,183 yards in 2013, and he totaled 2,440 yards rushing and 22 touchdowns.
