When the 2017 college football season begins is actually a matter of perspective.

There are five games scheduled to be played on Saturday, Aug. 26, including a matchup between Standford and Rice in Sydney, Australia, but the Cardinal and Oregon State are the only two Power 5 programs playing on that day.

Many will consider the following weekend the first true weekend of the college football season. Beginning on Thursday, Aug. 31, there is a string of exciting football action that runs all the way through Monday, when Tennessee takes on Georgia Tech.

If that Thursday is recognized as the beginning of the 2017 season, then it is exactly 100 days away.

To commemorate the 100-day milestone, South Carolina released a new hype video fitting titled “100 days.”

In Will Muschamp’s second season, South Carolina has some very intriguing pieces and could sneak up on other teams in the SEC East. Sophomore quarterback Jake Bentley will lead an offense that boasts a plethora of skill players, while senior linebacker Skai Moore returns from injury to rejuvenate a defense that was much improved in 2016.

It’s been a long offseason of hard work in the weight room and on the practice field for the Gamecocks, but the finish line is slowly coming into focus. South Carolina will host North Carolina State on Sept. 2 to kick off their 2017 campaign.
