The college football world was shocked on Thursday night when Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze announced his resignation immediately after reports came out that he called a Tampa-area escort service from his university-issued phone.
Freeze has been under fire for a couple of years now, so it’s not surprising that the school was prepared to immediately name an interim head coach.
The Rebels will now be led by Matt Luke, who has served as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach under Freeze for the last six years:
ANNOUNCEMENT | Hugh Freeze has resigned effective immediately. Matt Luke interim head coach. Press conference live at 7:30 PM CT on ESPNews.

Before joining Hugh Freeze’s staff in 2012, Luke spent the previous four seasons with Duke, where he also served as the offensive line coach. Prior to that, he spent time at Tennessee, where he was the tight ends coach for two years.
He played at Ole Miss from 1995 to 1998, serving as one of the team captains in 1998.
