As we reach the midpoint of the 2017 season, a couple of FBS coaches have already been fired, while other seats may soon come open.

For now, though, everyone in the SEC who started the season as a head coach (or interim head coach in the case of Ole Miss’s Matt Luke) still has a job.

That doesn’t mean jobs are safe, though, as the Associated Press has five SEC coaches on the midseason “Hot Seat Watch.” As you can see below, Tennessee’s Butch Jones, Arkansas’s Bret Bielema, Missouri’s Barry Odom, Florida’s Jim McElwain and Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin are all on some level of hot seat:

It’s no surprise that Jones is on the hottest seat, as a big loss to Alabama this weekend may spell the end of his time in Knoxville, but seeing McElwain on the list is a bit surprising.

Also, Sumlin is very deserving of his “cooling off” listing, as he’s dug the Aggies out of a hole and has them sitting at 5-2 entering the bye week.

Which coaches, if any, lose their jobs this season remains to be seen, but several of them need big wins in the second half.
