Once Georgia finished its thumping of Florida on Saturday night, the discussion began in earnest. How should the top two teams from the SEC be ranked when the Associated Press poll is released on Sunday.

The SEC Network didn’t waste any time starting the chatter as it correctly predicted what the AP Poll delivered, that Alabama and Georgia would be the top two teams in this week’s poll.

The main arguments appear to be Georgia’s narrow win at Notre Dame, which has aged well since the September meeting, and Alabama’s best win being Florida State or Texas A&M.

Then there’ the Big Ten element, which ranked Ohio State’s win over Penn State as more valuable than Georgia dominating Florida.

One-loss Notre Dame’s brand, and Wisconsin’s perceived weak schedule are also issues that will be worked out in the coming days and weeks as the first College Football Playoff rankings are due out on Tuesday.
