As speculation continues to mount that Jon Gruden is headed back to the NFL to coach the Raiders, Awful Announcing took a look at who might replace him on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

According to Matt Yoder, there are five possible replacements that would make a lot of sense with two former SEC football stars on the list. The first is Tennessee Volunteers legend and Super Bowl winning QB Peyton Manning.

Yoder pointed out that Manning’s name is, and will always be, mentioned every time a big television job opens up, much in the same way that Gruden’s name has been linked to almost every coaching rumor this season. With that being said, it remains to be seen if Manning has interest in becoming an analyst:

Whenever a major television job opens, Peyton Manning’s name is going to be on the list of potential replacements, much like Jon Gruden’s name was on every single coaching list in the world…The question hangs on whether or not Manning wants it, though…If he doesn’t take the ESPN job, maybe we won’t ever see him in an analyst role.

The second SEC-related option that Yoder brings up is someone already on ESPN’s payroll. He brings up former Florida Gators QB and Heisman winner Tim Tebow as someone who would make a big splash for the network while allowing ESPN to stick with one of their own.

Yoder points out that Tebow is liked by the network and has the celebrity status to fit the opening. A couple of things that may stand in the way is if Tebow wishes to continue his minor league baseball career and the fact that many fans may view him as a better fit for college football:

Here’s the thing you may not realize, though: Tebow is really good on television as an analyst both in the broadcast booth and the studio. The only issue might be that he seems to be a much better fit personality-wise and from his playing days for the college game than the pro game. Nevertheless, you wouldn’t put it past ESPN to try this, right?

All of this is speculation, but it is never too early to wonder who will take Gruden’s place if he does indeed move on.
