Jimbo Fisher to be inducted into Samford Hall of Fame Class of 2018

Following a stellar playing career at Samford, Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher has been inducted into the Samford Hall of Fame, the school announced Thursday.

Samford’s 2018 Hall of Fame class is set to be introduced this weekend Birmingham, Ala. During his senior season in 1987, Fisher set school records for total offense (2,631 yards) and touchdown passes (34). Fisher was the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year for his efforts that season.

Following his playing career at the school, Fisher began his coaching career at Samford. Auburn gave Fisher his start in the SEC in 1993, where he stayed on for several seasons before eventually joining Nick Saban’s LSU staff in 2000.

Joining Fisher as 2018 Samford Hall of Fame inductees is Billy Bancroft, Craig Beard, Michael Marseco and Alyssa Whitehead.
