LSU DE/OLB Arden Key has first-round talent as the 2018 NFL Draft approaches, but he’s far from a sure thing to hear his name called on day one.

After a sophomore season in 2016 in which he recorded 11 sacks in 11 games, Key only recorded four sacks in eight games in 2017. That, of course, leaves many NFL scouts wondering what happened.

As the NFL Combine approaches next week, NFL.com asked five executives and scouts which player has the most to answer for in Indianapolis. Two of the five named Key, with one saying NFL teams need to know if they can trust him:

“People have to meet the person and see if he can explain everything that’s happened over the last two years. He needs to gain the trust of the decision makers. When right, he’s a special talent.”

Two scouts named UCLA QB Josh Rosen, while the fifth thinks Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield will face the most scrutiny.

Whatever happens, Key has a lot to gain and even more to lose with his performance in Indianapolis next week, both with his on-field drills and his meeting-room answers.
