When it comes to calling plays, everyone has their own preferences. Some coordinators coach from the sidelines, while others prefer the bird’s-eye view that comes from the booth.

New Arkansas DC John Chavis has been a defensive coordinator since 1984, so he has plenty of experience with both methods.

On Wednesday, Chavis joined “Sports Talk with Bo Mattingly” and said that, while he prefers coaching from the sidelines, he thinks he does a better job when he’s up in the press box:

Based on that admission, new Arkansas coach Chad Morris should probably have Chavis in the booth on game days.

The Hogs need the defense to improve mightily this fall if they are going to get back to a bowl game in Morris’s first year.
