When Dan Mullen left Mississippi State to take the job at Florida, it left a bad taste in the mouths of many Bulldog fans.

Even though Florida-Mississippi State isn’t an every-year SEC East-West crossover game, it just so happens that the Gators travel to Starkville this season.

Speaking at an event on Monday night, Mullen seemed to acknowledge MSU fans’ bitterness in a comment he made about it being the biggest game in the history of the state of Mississippi:

Most fans would probably consistently rate the Egg Bowl as a bigger deal than this Florida-Mississippi State game, but it will certainly be a heated contest this time around.

The game will take place in Week 5, which is Sept. 29. Mullen is sure to hear his fair share of boos, but considering all he did for that program, he’ll likely hear a few cheers, too.
