Report: Ole Miss self-reports new violation after group of fans contact recruits through social media

Ole Miss went in front of the NCAA Infraction Appeals Committee this past week, but the specific timeline of a final decision hasn’t been revealed, according to the Clarion Ledger.
The Rebels were originally slapped with a two-year bowl ban, financial penalties, recruiting restrictions and probation.
However, within the Clarion Ledger’s report, it detailed a new self-reported violation that recently happened. Per the report, a screenshot of a Facebook post on a Mississippi State forum detailed that a certain school would be self-reporting a violation after several boosters contacted recruits through social media. Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork confirmed to the Clarion Ledger’s Maddie Lee that the Rebels did self-report that violation. Bjork said a group of fans “directly” and “deliberately” contacted recruits through Twitter this winter. That’s against NCAA rules.
Bjork said he doesn’t expect the newly self-reported level 3 violation to have any bearing on the NCAA Infraction Appeals Committee’s decision.
