The talk of the college football world revolved around Urban Meyer on Wednesday, when the Ohio State coach was placed on administrative leave following reports of his knowledge of domestic violation allegations with a former member of his staff.

Many were still talking about the news on Thursday, which was when Alabama coach Nick Saban was asked about Meyer’s situation before speaking at a charity luncheon.

“We have tremendous respect for treating people, male or female, the right way. I really don’t know enough about it to make a comment,” Saban said, according to Charlie Potter of 247sports. “I’m sure Ohio State will do a fantastic job of investigating and doing what they need to do to make it right.”

Saban and Meyer lead two of the top programs in the country — Alabama was ranked No. 1 in the first Coaches Poll released Thursday, Ohio State was at No. 3 — but it’s uncertain whether the Buckeyes’ coach will be with his team when the 2018 season begins.

Saban became the coach at Alabama in 2007, while Meyer was still the coach at Florida, so the two have some familiarity with each other. Meyer led the Gators from 2005-10 before becoming the coach at Ohio State in 2012.

Only time will tell what will happen with Meyer’s job status. But as Saban alluded to, Ohio State’s investigation will likely play a major role in what happens in the future.
