Chad Morris and the Arkansas Razorbacks followed up a road loss at Colorado State with a 44-17 loss at home to North Texas.

The rebuild in Fayetteville is off to a rough start, and Morris knows how much work is left to do before they can remotely compete with the rest of the SEC West. Here are Morris’ opening comments during the postgame press conference.

“We took a punch today,” said Morris, “especially in the first half. To get our mindset to change and rally back when things go bad, we’ve got to continue to work on that.”

“There is a locker room full of young men and coaches that are disappointed,” continued Morris, “they will fight, we’ve got to go back and look in the mirror.

“It starts with us, it starts with me, it starts with every coach, every player.”

Morris was asked about Arkansas’ quarterback situation after the loss.

“We went through practice this week and was going to try to stay with one guy,” said the Razorbacks’ head man, “that was the message, I was trying to get to the point of staying with one guy as long as we could, and with hopes to give the entire game to Cole (Kelley).”

On the balance between working on this season and preparing for the future: “Well I think it goes back to what we said earlier, you got to go back and look in the mirror. We’ll go back in and reevaluate things tomorrow.”

On if this is a bigger rebuild than previously thought: “I think when you look at it, you look at is as how this football has got to improve every day. No one in that locker room wants to hear the word ‘rebuild’, especially if you’re a senior that’s invested time in this program. But you do want to hear that you want to continue to get better, and find ways to improve.”
