LSU coach Ed Orgeron addressed the issues the Tigers needed to fix entering halftime as they trailed Florida, 14-10.

The Tigers held the lead in yards, 203-185, as QB Joe Burrow was 11-for-14 for 127 yards. But they also had a lost fumble.

“Great game, we knew it was going to be a great game,” Orgeron said coming off the field on the LSU Sports Radio Network. “We have to protect, eliminate the turnovers and stop them from running the football.”

Among the corrections to make at halftime were slowing Florida’s rushing attack, which collected 115 yards and average 5.5 yards per carry in the first half.

“We just need to tackle at the point of attack,” he said. “Make sure we’re in our gaps at the point of attack. We can’t give up that deep ball on the seven route down there.”

Orgeron said Burrow and the receivers can make plays when they have an opportunity. Seven LSU players made at least one catch in the first half, including four with at least 12 yards receiving.

“It’s nice,” he said. “When we got our guys open, when we can protect we can make some. It’s going to be a heck of a football game in the second half. We’re going to come back and win it.”
