CFB insider names Alabama assistant as name to watch during Maryland coaching search
Maryland reversed course on Wednesday, firing coach DJ Durkin a day after reinstating him following an investigation into Jordan McNair’s tragic death.
OC Matt Canada will take over as the interim head coach, but it’s unclear if he’ll be the long-term answer at the position.
On Wednesday, college football insider Bruce Feldman said one name to keep an eye on is Alabama OC Mike Locksley:
The #Maryland coaching search will be fascinating. There will be a ton on internal support & from key power players for #Alabama OC Mike Locksley. His UNM stint was bad but he has a huge recruiting rep in the area and his Tide offense has been fantastic this season.

Locksley was the offensive coordinator at Maryland from 2012 to 2015, and was the interim coach for a few games in 2015. He has deep ties to the Washington D.C. area, so it is certainly a move he might be open to.
What will happen next at Maryland? That’s anyone’s guess, but Feldman is right — keep an eye on Locksley.
