Nate Oats continues to sell Alabama basketball well with the latest sign of that coming from an expected hire on his first Crimson Tide basketball staff.

G-League head coach Charlie Henry is apparently a wanted man in many coaching circles as new Nebraska coach and former NBA and Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg reportedly has been trying to lure Henry to Lincoln. While Husker Extra previously reported Henry had been hired by Hoiberg and Nebraska, according to Jeff Goodman of Stadium, Oats has beaten Hoiberg to the punch.

Henry previously served on Hoiberg’s Iowa State staff for three seasons and went on to become Windy City Bulls head coach in 2017.

If it turns out Oats hires Henry over Hoiberg, that would just be the latest sign that the new Alabama basketball coach knows a thing or two about selling the program. If you missed it, Oats has convinced sophomore guard John Petty to remove his name from the NCAA transfer portal and has already landed a commitment from four-star center prospect Raymond Hawkins.

Not bad for being on the job for just a few days.
