The North Carolina A&T Aggies have won the past 2 Celebration Bowls, which pit the top 2 HBCU (historically black colleges and universities) teams against one another.

They also beat Kent State at Kent State in 2016 and are now apparently looking for bigger challenges.

According to a report on Friday night, the Aggies are looking to make the jump to the FBS level, leaving the FCS behind:

It seems this is still in the early stages of actually happening, but A&T wouldn’t be the first HBCU school to attempt the move. Florida A&M tried in 2004, lasting one season before heading back to the FCS level, as detailed by SB Nation’s Bill Connelly.

Will this actually happen? Only time will tell, but A&T could follow fellow North Carolina schools Appalachian State and Charlotte as recent FCS teams to make the jump.
