A veteran quarterback at Tennessee State is facing six felony counts of rape and two counts of sexual battery following a Monday arrest that is related to an incident in December.

Demry Croft, who started four games last season, was the first-team quarterback through the first scrimmage, the Tennessean reported. Croft is a 22-years-old transfer from Minnesota. A shoulder injury kept him out of the last five games of the 2018 season.

Croft is being held on a $50,000 bond, according to Davidson County Sheriff’s Office records, the paper reported.

Croft’s status with the team is unclear, and although he missed the second scrimmage, he is still listed on the team’s online roster.

“He had some personal issues he’s dealing with so we allowed him to be off today,” coach Rod Reed told the Tennessean. “Whenever that gets handled we’ll see what happens.”

The redshirt senior is 6-foot-5 and 205 pounds and a native of Rockford, Illinois. He played in three games as a true freshman for Minnesota in 2015, then redshirted the next season. In 2017, he started six of the nine games he played in for Minnesota.
