For much of the game, it would have been tough for Arkansas to play any worse than it did Saturday against Mississippi State. Losing by 30 points at home is bad enough but when you give up 54 points to a struggling Bulldog team and allow 460 rushing yards, Chad Morris has got some explaining to do.

However, following the game, Morris wasn’t in much of a talking mood.

Here was Morris’ complete opening statement:

“I want to thank our fans that came out today, that came out to a Homecoming game. Very disappointed in our performance and with that, I’ll open it up for questions.”

One of the biggest storylines entering the game was the suspension of the team’s starting tight end, C.J. O’Grady. Not only is he arguably the team’s best player, it appears he may not be returning based on a cryptic tweet the tight end sent out on Friday.

Here is what Morris had to say on C.J. O’Grady not playing on Saturday:

“He was suspended today and we will meet tomorrow.”

When asked about his team regressing this season:

“Nothing about today’s performance was a part of our practice this past week. Very disappointed.”

Morris on KJ Jefferson, who came in during the fourth quarter and provided a spark to the Arkansas offense:

“I don’t have any regrets not playing him earlier in the season. I thought he did a really good job, we kept it as simple as possible with him. I thought he did a really good job. He had a big run, scored a touchdown, obviously impressive for your first drive.”

On if he is considering shaking up his coaching staff:

“I’m not going to answer that.”

After losing to Mississippi State, Arkansas is now 2-7 on the season. The Razorbacks host Western Kentucky next weekend.
