Arkansas has been in the market for a new head football coach for about 10 days. Without any signs of movement, some parts of the Razorbacks fan base has been getting antsy.

Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek tried to put the team’s fans at ease with a letter on Wednesday.

“A search for our next head football coach is well underway. As I have shared previously, I firmly believe that we will find a quality leader for our football team,” Yurachek wrote in his letter. “The Razorback Football program has much to offer – including substantial financial support, tremendous facilities, an outstanding academic institution, great history and tradition, competing in the nation’s best conference and a passionate fan base.

“In my continued efforts to identify our next head coach, just as I did in our recent men’s basketball search, I will work to maintain confidentiality in the process. I understand that because of the great interest in our search, there will continue to be an abundance of speculation. I appreciate your patience and understanding as I focus on the important task at hand.”

Arkansas fired Chad Morris on Nov. 10 after starting the season 2-8. Morris posted a 4-18 record with the Razorbacks and now has an 18-41 overall record as a college football coach. He failed to win an SEC game in nearly two seasons at Arkansas.

Speculation for who could be Arkansas’ next coach has run wild, but clearly, Yurachek is going to keep his plan under wraps. Arkansas will end the season with a road matchup against LSU and home game versus Missouri.

Also in his letter, Yurachek asked fans to come out and support the team once last time at War Memorial Stadium when the Razorbacks host the Tigers on Nov. 29.
