Florida’s victory over Georgia on Nov. 7 put it firmly in the hunt for the SEC East championship and into the discussion for a potential College Football Playoff berth if it ends up running the table and capturing its first SEC title since 2008. It did so behind a tremendous performance from Kyle Trask, who threw 4 touchdowns and 474 yards, just shy of Tim Tebow’s single-game school record.

Trask had the opportunity to chat virtually with FOX Sports analyst and Southern Cal legend Reggie Bush as Bush’s “Power Player of the Week”, as the 2 discussed the Gators’ win over the Bulldogs. One play during the game Bush noted was Trask’s touchdown pass to star tight end Kyle Pitts that saw the Gators tie the game at 21.

Bush mentioned the fact that the Gators had a trio of receivers lined up to the left side of Trask and Pitts as a single receiver to the right, leaving Pitts in a one-on-one situation with his defender.

“Did you see that he was in press-man coverage, and if so, were you going to him the whole way?” asked Bush.

“They had been playing a lot of ‘2-high’ coverage,” replied Trask. “This particular play was the first play in a while that they left Kyle Pitts one-on-one. I immediately saw the safety rolling back to the middle of the field [and] knew I had him one-on-one.”

Trask made the point that it is not often that Pitts is involved in a one-on-one matchup, and “[he] had to take advantage of it” as the Gators would eventually win, 44-28. He mentioned a similar scenario during the Gators’ loss to Texas A&M that he wasn’t able to capitalize on, making it a point to not make the same mistake against the Bulldogs.

“Sometimes it’s really hard to keep your composure because it’s not that often that you get him one-on-one, so sometimes you get happy feet out there,” he said.
