Kirk Herbstreit announced Tuesday night that the coronavirus will keep him from traveling on New Year’s weekend.

“Earlier this week I tested positive for Covid,” Herbstreit wrote in a note posted to his Twitter account. “Thankfully I feel good and my family is okay, but going through protocols will keep me home. I will be working from home, Jan. 1 on College GameDay (9 a.m.-12 p.m.) and later that day on the call for the Sugar Bowl with Chris, Maria and Tom. Can’t wait for the rematch between Clemson and Ohio State.”

Herbstreit was similarly sidelined in late September when he was exposed to the virus and tested negative. Herbstreit contributed remotely to a Miami-based edition of “College GameDay” and to the call of the FSU-Miami game with Chris Fowler.

As Herbstreit referenced in his note, Fowler, Maria Taylor and Tom Rinaldi will be on the call in New Orleans for the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl between No. 2 Clemson and No. 3 Ohio State.

Rece Davis will host GameDay live from the Sugar Bowl. Desmond Howard and David Pollack will be on set while Herbstreit and Corso contribute remotely. Corso has not traveled during the 2020 season, instead contributing from his Orlando-area home.
