Tennessee’s basketball program may be the hottest SEC program, if not the nation, on the recruiting trail at the moment.

Change was assured to be happening on Rocky Top following the departure of so many players to the NBA and the transfer portal but it’s hard to argue that Tennessee didn’t upgrade with the additions made since the conclusion of last season.

After landing a commitment from Auburn sharpshooter Justin Powell, the Vols quickly France native Quentin Diboundje and four-star center Jonas Aidoo — the No. 1 overall prospect from North Carolina and the No. 7 center recruit in the country.

They joined five-star point guard Kennedy Chandler (the No. 2 prospect at his position) and No. 11 small forward Jahmai Mashack as additions to Tennessee’s latest signing class.

Now the Vols have landed Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, the No. 1 power forward prospect in the 2022 class.

But that’s not all the good news, Huntley-Hatfield has made the decision to reclassify and join Tennessee’s 2021 class, meaning he will be eligible to play next season for the Vols.

Here is what Tennessee is getting in Huntley-Hatfield according to ESPN college basketball analyst Paul Biancardi:

“Huntley-Hatfield has an ideal frame for a power forward, with his wide shoulders, strength, balance and length. He possesses natural scoring instincts from anywhere on the court. He owns true versatility as he can be successful in the post or effective with his face-up game as a shooter or drive. As a screener, Huntley-Hatfield will open the floor for his jumper or roll to finish with power and body control. If he applies himself, he has the ability to be a productive rebounder, both above the rim and outside his area.”
