That was fast.

Maria Taylor, who was with ESPN only days ago covering the NBA Finals, is in Tokyo and has already filed her first segment with NBC during its coverage of Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics.

Taylor addressed the women’s gymnastics team’s upcoming competition, and then tossed it back to host Mike Tirico during the coverage. She thanked Tirico for the welcome to NBC, and being a part of the Olympic legacy.

College football fans will miss Taylor this fall as a sideline reporter on ESPN/ABC as she recently left the network after a long and public contract negotiation.

ESPN released a statement earlier this week announcing Taylor’s departure and how the NBA Finals was her last assignment. She offered her own words of farewell.

“So thankful to Jimmy and all of my great teammates and friends at the SEC Network, College GameDay, Women’s and Men’s college basketball, and the NBA Countdown family — the people who believed in me, encouraged me, pushed me, and lifted me up. Words are inadequate to express my boundless appreciation, and I hope to make them proud.”

In recent weeks, the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported that ESPN offered Taylor a $3 million salary, which was a considerable jump from her $1 million salary before.

Taylor is most known to SEC and college football fans as a sideline reporter for college football games, especially the College Football Playoff and national championship. Taylor, 34, also hosts The Finals and “NBA Countdown.”
