As Hurricane Ida approaches, the LSU football team will be relocating to continue its preparations for the 2021 season.
On Saturday, LSU announced to reporters that the team is moving its football operations and practices to Houston (h/t Wilson Alexander of The Advocate). The Tigers’ buses were packed Saturday morning, then the team was scheduled to leave in the night after holding a mock game at Tiger Stadium.
LSU will be staying in Houston until Thursday, when it will leave for Los Angeles. The Tigers are set to open the season with a matchup against UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Sept. 4.
It has been reported that Hurricane Ida could be a Category 4 storm by the time it makes landfall, so these preparations are being made in advance. The NFL’s New Orleans Saints have relocated to Dallas, while Tulane announced it was relocating its football team to Birmingham, Ala.
LSU is scheduled to play its home opener against McNeese State on Sept. 11.
