It looked nothing like his father. There was no high stepping. There was no pre-score celebration. It was just a simple quarterback sneak at the goal line. No matter. The Sanders family will take it.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders scored his first collegiate touchdown as Jackson State took a 7-3 lead on Florida A&M early in the second quarter on Sunday. His father, Deion Sanders, was right there looking on as Jackson State’s head coach.

Shedeur Sanders was under center as Jackson State faced a third-and-goal. With a stacked backfield, Sanders kept the ball himself and managed to find the endzone. It certainly wasn’t easy as the officials took several seconds to make sure he had managed to score.

Sanders is fortunate he doesn’t have to play his father in his prime. The elder Sanders is widely considered one of the top cornerbacks in the history of football.

Sanders was a two-time unanimous All-American and won the Jim Thorpe Award as the best defensive back when he was at Florida State. He was a six time All-Pro in the NFL at cornerback and was also named All-Pro as a kick returner and a punt returner in 1992 and 1998, respectively. He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2011.
