Kirk Herbstreit taking heat on social media for latest top 6 rankings

Kirk Herbstreit released his surprising new top 6 rankings during Saturday night’s broadcast of the Penn State-Ohio State game.
The ESPN analyst had 1-loss Alabama at No. 2, with 1-loss Ohio State at No. 3. Georgia was at No. 1 and Cincinnati was at No. 4. Meanwhile, unbeaten Michigan State and Oklahoma teams were in the 5 and 6 spots.
With the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2021 season coming out on Tuesday night, it’ll be interesting to see if the committee agrees with Herbstreit’s ranking, or if it gives more weight to the undefeated teams.
As you might expect, Herbstreit having Ohio State and Alabama in his top 4 stirred up some controversy on Twitter. Here’s what some people were saying about his latest rankings:
It begins. Herbstreit has Ohio State 3 and Cincinnati 4. Bearcats are unbeaten and won at Notre Dame. OSU has a loss and its best win is by 9 at home against a Penn State team capable of losing to Illinois. Sheesh. This is why we need to expand the playoff.

I tend to agree with Herbstreit on most things, but him having #OhioState at No.3 for the first CFP poll is a bit absurd. Especially after tonight.
