The Mississippi State men’s basketball team added another solid recruit to its 2022 class on Tuesday.

Martavious Russell, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, announced on Twitter that he has committed to the Bulldogs. He’s a 3-star recruit per the 247Sports rankings and currently attends Sipsey Valley High School in Buhl, Ala.

Mississippi State now has 4 players in its 2022 recruiting class, the other 3 having all signed national letters of intent.

Russell received an offer from the Bulldogs last month, and it didn’t take him long to then commit.

“I just felt comfortable there,” Russell said, per Paul Jones of 247Sports.com. “I’ve been to a majority of places and I’ve been traveling around the country for basketball. But no place felt like Mississippi State. I felt so welcomed there. Plus, I know I will get better there instead of going somewhere else and wasting my time.”

Russell won’t be the 1st member of his family to play basketball at an SEC school. According to Jones, Russell’s father is Marvin Moore, who played at Ole Miss from 2003-05.
