South Carolina is the last SEC men’s basketball team to make a hire after 6 programs changed head coaches this offseason.

Georgia, Florida, Mizzou, LSU and Mississippi State have all found their next coaches, and now it appears the Gamecocks are nearing a hire as well.

Per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, the Gamecocks have “zeroed in” on Chattanooga head coach Lamont Paris to replace Frank Martin:

Paris has been Chattanooga’s head coach for 5 years, winning the Southern Conference regular-season and tournament titles this season. He led the Mocs to the NCAA Tournament for the first time, losing in Round 1 to Illinois.

In his 5 years at the helm of the program, he’s gone 87-70 overall. We’ll see if he can help revitalize the Gamecocks after Martin’s departure.
