Mike Yastrzemski hit his way into an exclusive club Friday night. The San Francisco Giants outfielder, a former Vanderbilt standout, hit a walk-off grand slam to carry his team to victory over the Milwaukee Brewers 8-5. For the Giants, it’s the first walk-off slam since Bobby Bonds against the Dodgers in 1973.
The Giants were trailing 5-4 in the bottom of the 9th inning when Yastrzemski came up to bat. They didn’t need all 4 runs, but Yaz gave everyone a little something extra to celebrate by leaving the yard on a 420-foot blast, clocking a 105.1 mph exit velocity.
