Nick Saban made headlines before the 2022 when he suggested teams were paying recruits. He specifically mentioned Jackson State, then coached by Deion Sanders, as a school that paid a recruit (presumably Travis Hunter), a “million dollars”.

But if anyone thinks “Coach Prime” has hard feelings over Saban for that comment, think again because Sanders said all is good between the AFLAC spokesmen.

Football Scoop had the full report.

“I knew he what he was trying to say, what he was trying to accomplish,” Sanders said. “You can’t judge a man by the thought process of the moment. He’s established himself to be a monument, so we’re not going to let a moment (dictate) how to feel about him.

“Coach Saban is a good dude.”

Saban also clarified his remarks when he and Sanders were shooting a commercial over the summer.

“When I said what I said before, my point was, is that we want this to be?,” Saban tells Sanders. “Because it’s what it’s turned into. I could see it coming.”

Sanders has moved on to Colorado and hopefully the two coaches will continue to shoot commercials together in the offseason. We should expect they will have plenty more to talk about in the future.
