TJ Finley, a former Auburn quarterback who entered the transfer portal about 10 days ago, has announced his new program.

Finley announced a commitment to Texas State, which means he traded a QB competition at Auburn for one with Malik Hornsby, a former Arkansas QB, with the Bobcats.

Finley saw his season cut short by a shoulder injury in 2022. That came after Finley was named the starting quarterback on Aug. 28, and completed 9-of-14 passes for 112 yards with 1 TD and 2 interceptions against Mercer.

He also went 13-20 for 167 yards with an interception against San Jose’ State, and against Penn State went 119-11 for 152 yards with a pick. Finley missed Missouri, LSU and Georgia games with a shoulder injury, and was limited against Ole Miss.

Finley, who previously transferred from LSU, won the job last year, in a competition with former Oregon quarterback Robby Ashford and Texas A&M transfer Zach Calzada. Auburn since Finley’s departure added former Michigan State QB Payton Thorne.
