The Tennessee Volunteers (3-3) cruised to a 45-10 win over FCS Chattanooga on Saturday. The Vols forced a 5-of-14 third down efficiency and allowed 201 total yards. The Mocs recorded 96 passing yards and 105 rushing.

Tennessee kept Chattanooga off the scoreboard until the second quarter. Henrique Ribeiro connected on a 27-yard field goal attempt that gave the Mocs their first score. Chattanooga found the end zone with a 14-yard run by Richarde Bagley in the fourth quarter, with many of the Vols starters resting.

Tennessee forced three interceptions in Saturday’s win. Jacob Huesman was intercepted by Justin Coleman that led to a 53-yard return, setting the Vols’ drive up at the Mocs’ 16-yard-line. Huesman also fumbled in the second quarter, which was recovered by freshman defensive end Derek Barnett.

Linebacker A.J. Johnson enjoyed another stellar performance. The senior recorded nine tackles, including one for a 10-yard loss. Tennessee’s defense combined for six tackles for loss, equal to 36 yards.

The Vols were fortunate to have a favorable matchup coming off two disappointing losses. However, the defensive unit has fared well this entire season and has exceeded expectations in Butch Jones’ second year. Tennessee will have a tougher matchup in Week 8 against No. 3 Ole Miss, led by quarterback Bo Wallace and a talented group of skill players.
