Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt can sleep easy this summer now that four-star linebacker Roquan Smith is between the hedges.

Here’s photo proof from move-in day of the potential impact freshman alongside Bulldogs assistant coach Mike Ekeler:

Smith, five-star athlete Terry Godwin and the rest of the 2015 class is arriving at Georgia today and the Bulldogs’ official football account is keeping tabs on the arrivals as well as recruiting insiders.

Smith provides the Bulldogs with instant depth at outside linebacker, one of several key players in Georgia’s impressive National Signing Day haul. He made waves this spring when he elected not to sign a letter-of-intent to UCLA and later sent in a financial aid agreement to Georgia.

Coach Mark Richt believes Smith will make an impact as a true freshman.

“One thing about Roquan that’s different from anybody we have is just his athleticism,” Richt said according to 247Sports. “He has the ability to play all three downs, in our opinion.”

Richt added: “A lot of people think you have to have good corners to play man-to-man coverage, which is true. But if you’re playing man everywhere, your linebacker has to match up with running backs, too, and we think Roquan is really well-suited for that. We think he’s unique in that way. We definitely need him.”
