AJ Dybantsa, the No. 1 overall hoops prospect in the Class of 2025, will announce his college decision on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. on First Take.
Dybantsa, a dynamic 6-9 forward who attends school in Hurricane, Utah (near the border with Arizona), will decide between Alabama, BYU, North Carolina and Kansas. Though it’s worth noting that this seems to be a 2-horse race between Alabama and BYU.

You may be wondering how BYU found itself in a grouping of Final Four caliber basketball schools, let alone a frontrunner, but it’s a fairly simple question to answer. Kevin Young, BYU’s head coach, has loads of NBA experience with the Phoenix Suns and already has a top 25 prospect commit in Xavion Staton. Not to mention, he played most of his high school basketball at Utah Prep.
But don’t count Alabama out. The Crimson Tide have made a major push for Dybantsa after BYU was considered the favorite for months. And while BYU is building well over in Provo, Alabama is a true championship contender right now under head coach Nate Oats.
Alabama currently holds the No. 11 overall class in the 2025 cycle, but a commitment from Dybantsa would likely catapult them just below the top 5.
