Alabama got some unfortunate news on the recruiting trail Tuesday night. Jeremiah Alexander, a 5-star defensive end in the 2022 class, announced his decommitment from the Crimson Tide.

“At this time I would like to de-commit from The University of Alabama. I am 100% focused on getting another ring with my brothers. NO LOVE LOST towards my Bama family!” Alexander wrote in a note posted on his Twitter account.

The Thompson standout is listed at 6-2, 235 pounds, and rated the No. 1 recruit in Alabama, No. 1 weak-side defensive end and No. 11 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite. Alexander originally committed to UA on March 9, 2020.

In addition to Alabama, Alexander has 12 other scholarship offers, including Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. Touchdown Alabama shared highlights of Alexander’s 2020 season debut on YouTube.

Nick Saban’s squad still has 4-star ILB Robert Woodyard committed for 2022.
