The Alabama Crimson Tide won their fifth national championship under coach Nick Saban on Monday night, beating Georgia in thrilling fashion.

After the game, first-year Alabama AD Greg Byrne celebrated with the Tide in the locker room, but now he has his sights set on the future.

Byrne said it has been incredible to see the success Saban has had in Tuscaloosa, adding that he will do everything he can to continue to support the football team and the rest of the athletic department (via AL.com):

“Part of being at Alabama is high expectations. It’s incredible,” Byrne said. “To see the run Coach Saban has been on, it’s historic. There’s no other way to say it. We want to do everything we can to continue to support this program to continue to compete at this level. That’s constant evolution. It’s important that we don’t sit still.”

Alabama should have another great football team in 2018, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see the Tide back in the Playoff this time next year.

Byrne’s tenure in Tuscaloosa is off to a great start, and it’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for him.
