A breaking story Wednesday about COVID cases at Ohio State got the attention of college football fans and media members everywhere as it was reported that the National Championship Game scheduled for Jan. 11 could be moved to a later date.

After the report became the talk of social media, CFP director Bill Hancock and Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith commented that the game is still on for Jan. 11 as of right now. Now Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne is sharing the same message.

“Ohio State AD Gene Smith and I have had multiple conversations. Both schools are focused on playing in the College Football Playoff Championship Game on January 11th,” Byrne tweeted Tuesday.

If this season has taught us anything, it’s that things can change at a moment’s notice, but it’s encouraging to hear that everything is on track to have the National Championship Game played on Monday.
