Alabama baseball head coach Brad Bohannon was fired Thursday for violating university and team standards, according to Alabama AD Greg Byrne.

With Bohannon’s firing have come a flurry of online reactions and relevant details concerning the circumstances of his dismissal. A report on Thursday from The Athletic connected Bohannon to an ongoing betting scandal, where Ohio and New Jersey sportsbooks were instructed to halt all bets made involving Alabama baseball after “suspicious” activity was monitored during Alabama’s 8-6 loss to LSU in late April.

Now, a report from DI baseball’s Kendall Rogers states that players are not believed to be involved in the ongoing investigation, and that said investigation is instead focusing on Bohannon himself.

The Athletics’s Andy Staples corroborated the report later:

Alabama’s pitching coach, Jason Jackson, will be Alabama’s interim coach for the remainder of the season.
