Short of players who could accurately simulate talented Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight on their own roster, the Alabama Crimson Tide invited a former star to return to practice this week.

On ESPN College GameDay, Sam Ponder announced that Nick Saban had former QB Blake Sims simulate the Aggies’ dual-threat quarterback this week.

Sims, a dual-threat quarterback during his time at Alabama, was a perfect choice for the position.

Plus, having Sims around at practice this week likely benefitted freshman QB Jalen Hurts, who is similar to Sims in many ways, but with a much higher ceiling as he continues to grow into the position.
