Jacksonville may look to hire from Nick Saban’s Alabama staff if the Jaguars’ general manager gets his way.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that embattled Jacksonville GM Trent Baalke is pushing ownership to consider Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien as a candidate for the Jaguars head coaching job:

Baalke has also recently been pushing Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to ownership as a possible candidate.

O’Brien, 52, has experience as an NFL assistant, head coach and general manager. O’Brien was with the New England Patriots from 2007-11 before leaving to take the Penn State head coaching job. He returned to the NFL in 2014 to become the head coach of the Houston Texans. O’Brien added general manager to his responsibilities with the Texans in January 2020. After an 0-4 start, O’Brien was fired by the Texans in October 2020.

O’Brien has a 52-48 record as an NFL head coach, making the playoffs 4 times.
